Intro
Following the simple philosophy that our success comes from making our clients and owners happy and satisfied, we utilize our management's and employees' knowledge and expertise to effectively complete the projects we work on.
Our leadership and supervisors have a combined 150 + years of experience, and we regularly bring in new talent. Please see our About page to find out more.
Unlike larger corporations, our size allows us the flexibility and agility to adapt to changing work conditions, and our unusual mix of employees and subcontractors brings a high level of expert skill to perform specialty work for government and private clients.
Please go to our Projects page to see a small sample of the work we have done.
Covid19
To All of Those Connected to the United of Carolinas Family:
United of Carolinas feels a significant responsibility to keep everyone associated with our company as healthy as possible. That responsibility extends outside of our company staff and employees encompassing all those we work with: our clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. With that in mind, and in light of the Corona Virus (Covid-19) Pandemic, we have proactively established criteria and employee requirements while the Corona Virus is a threat.
Safety being our primary focus, we have adopted the Mecklenburg County and City of Charlotte policies to deal with this outbreak. Although some of the policies may seem overly cautious, we have taken the following steps to address Corona Virus threats in the workplace:
• We have distributed posters to all of our employees in both Spanish and English with recommendations for staying healthy and requirements for actions if they do become sick.
• Employees who are sick, have traveled to high-risk areas, or have been in contact with anyone suspected of having the virus are being asked to stay home until they know they are not ill.
• We have put a “no hand-shake” policy in place and asked all employees to keep their hands as clean as possible.
• We have asked our internal employees to clean the office daily with antibacterial wipes.
• Most of our suppliers and partners have similar policies in place, and we have encouraged those that do not to apply similar guidelines for their employees who may visit our job sites or office, or work with our subcontractors.
This virus is not convenient, and the steps required to stay healthy may seem equally inconvenient. We still think it best to practice an abundance of caution to keep everyone as safe, and as well, as possible. These restrictions will be in place as long as necessary, and we appreciate everyone’s patience. We value your understanding and commitment and in response, we are making a commitment to you to put practices in place with everyone’s best interests in mind.

About
Owned by Ali Bahmanyar, United of Carolinas, Inc. specializes in storm water, stream restoration, site grading and infrastructure, utilities, and roadway construction projects in the greater Charlotte metropolitan area and surrounding cities. Working with Vice President Jack Gould, Ali manages the day-to-day operations of the company and its projects. The two principals have more than 80 years of combined experience in the construction industry.
Ali Bahmanyar opened his first construction company in Connecticut as A&E Construction doing aerial and underground utility work. He moved to Charlotte in 1988, and as a co-owner of United Construction, Inc., started doing municipal roadway projects that included building parks, restoring creeks, and replacing utilities around the Charlotte area. That company grew to over $20M and was a respected leader in the Charlotte Metropolitan area. When Ali and his partner decided to separate in 2016, he opened United of Carolinas.
Jack Gould came to work as a project manager for Ali’s first company in 1995 bringing his 20+ years of experience in the construction industry. He moved up to General Manager and then became Vice President in 2005. When the company dissolved, Jack oversaw the completion of work on open contracts. He then joined United of Carolinas as Vice President.
Brian Bardwil oversees on-site operations and manages multiple crews. To-date, United of Carolinas employs half a dozen crews and has several full-time subcontractors also overseeing crews. The company has over 200 years of combined experience in the industry.
Along with the welcome challenge of managing our rapid growth, our smaller size helps us remain flexible and adaptable. We respond quickly to changes in our on-site environments and to unavoidable changes in our clients’ expected outcomes. With dozens of successfully completed projects, our ability to find solutions for our owners as we work through unexpected situations makes us a valued member of the project team.
The majority of the work United of Carolinas performs involves city and county government bid contracts. However, we also have an excellent track record performing specialty work for a wide range of clients. Please contact us if you have a project you want us to look at.
